2018 has been arguably one of the best years in music. With a consistent stream of releases from all of our favourite artists, there is no better time to be a music lover then at the current moment. While many tend to be overwhelmed with the pace at which music is released and consumed in the present, it has allowed for artists to carve out an manifest their own lanes & develop loyal fanbases.

In regards to the Canadian music scene, it has only grown in stature with more amazing artists making their mark in 2018.  From the underground to mainstream, there has been so many amazing records that it can be said that Canadian Artists are at the forefront of shaping the sounds we hear in the mainstream. From producers, engineers, visuals and music the north is running it all, & we have no plans on letting up in 2019.

As incredible as this year has been, it has also been one of the toughest, as we lost many influential artists & creatives. I want to take a moment to commemorate the lives of Smoke Dawg, Mac Miller, Fredo Santana, Aretha Franklin, XXXTENTACION, Jimmy Wopo,  Lil Peep,  Anthony Bourdain & Stan Lee. May they rest in peace, and their legacies live on via their everlasting imprint on this culture we are such active participants in.

2018 also saw the visual bar for music videos get raised to another artistic echelon. With the importance of visuals not wavering, our favourite artists brought the goods when it came to music videos. Creating engaging and immersive worlds to accompany their musical canvases, here are the best music videos to drop in 2018:

In terms of personal favourites for the year, it was incredibly difficult to pick¬†and choose¬†from all the amazing projects I listened. The sheer amount of album/mixtape releases were insane to say the least. So shoutout to all of the amazing body of works we got in 2018.¬† Some standouts for me¬†were Nipsey Hussle's Victory Lap, Travis Scott's Astroworld¬† & Mahlia's Seasons.¬†View my full¬†list of projects that helped shape 2018 below & have a safe and Happy New Year from Subhan¬†ūüíú¬†¬†
